Long walk to Share a Dream

16 June: Four County Kildare men are embarking on a 640km walk around Ireland in aid of The Share A Dream Foundation. They are Bob O'Kelly(Naas), Peter Fay (Naas), Shane Byrne and Alan Byrne (Kill).

The walk begins In Limerick on 28th June and finishes back in Limerick on July 12th and takes in Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Kildare, The Midlands, Galway and Clare!

The walk has been organised by Tina O'Kelly who is the mother of an eight year old girl, Colleen, who has a very rare condition, Jouberts Syndrome.  Colleen's older sisiter Amy won The Young Carer of the Year Award from the Share A Dream Foundation in 2001 for her dedication to her younger sister.

The Share A Dream Foundation was set up 12 years ago by Shay Kinsella and since it's inception has made dreams come true for thousands of special needs and terminally ill children as well as hosting the Children Of Courage Awards annually.  The Foundation now has set up special youth clubs all over the country for these wonderful children.

The foundation is totally dependent on fundraising to survive as it receives no government funding.  Tina not only wants to raise money for the foundation but also wants to raise public awareness about its existence.

Tina will drive the route as support vehicle and organiser, her husband Bob is one of the Walkers.

To kick the whole thing off the lads are taking part in a sponsored leg wax in The Forge Inn in Naas on Thursday 26th June @ 8.30pm

Anyone that would like to sponsor the group can do so by contacting Tina on 087 6023025 or donate to Bank of Ireland Naas, A/C Walk For A Dream sort code 92 66 22 a/c no. 19832421
