One-way system imposed on 'gridlock' road

NEWBRIDGE, 15 November: by Brian Byrne. A one-way system is to be implemented on Cutlery Road in Newbridge every Saturday between now and Christmas.

The road is notorious for traffic jams, as cars park on both sides and there’s simply no room for two vehicles to pass each other in the space that’s left.

Traders in the area have long called for a one-way system, supported by the Town Commission. Kildare County Council is awaiting the production of a traffic management plan for Newbridge.

Traffic in Cutlery Road will now only be allowed travel inwards on Saturdays, with gardai in place on Edward Street to prevent outward-bound vehicles using the road.
