KILDARE GENERAL, 23 December 2001: by Brian Byrne. The Crime Prevention Officer of the Kildare/Carlow Garda Division has asked that people should be vigilant for their neighbours security and also look out for the elderly and people living alone.
Sgt Mary Corcoran (left) reminded people to make it appear that their home is occupied while theyre out over the Christmas season, and consider that even while theyre home that their vulnerable rear windows and doors be permanently alarmed.
She also warned people to be aware that criminals may be trying to dispose of stocks of forged punt currency during the euro changeover period and individuals and businesses should be particularly vigilant.
