Safety in Clane to be raised

CLANE 30 January 2003: Safety measures for pedestrians in Clane will be on the agenda of the Clane Area meeting of local councillors at its next meeting, following the lodging of a motion by Deputy Emmet Stagg.

Deputy Stagg says safety measures are required for pedestrians at the two major junctions along Main Street, namely at Manzor's and Murphy's.

"Pedestrian movements at both these locations is high and the provision of large raised speed cushions would slow traffic at off peak hours thus making the areas safer for pedestrians to cross," he says.

Deputy Stagg has also requested the examination of pedestrian controlled traffic lights at these locations.
