Concerns about cardboard collection

NAAS 11 January 2003: Naas town officials are to 'talk to' the Naas Chamber of Commerce about a problem with the collection of cardboard for recycling operated by the town's refuse collector.

Cllr Willie Callaghan had raised the issue of cardboard boxes cluttering the footpaths of the town on nights prior to the collection, and he said it was particularly problematical over the Christmas period.

Town clerk Declan Kirrane said the fact that Christmas Day had been a Wednesday was an element of the situation.

Cllr Callaghan said the traders who used the service should make sure that the cardboard was not left in a way that it ended up blown onto the street and became an even worse problem.
