'More investigation' promised on drainage problem

LEIXLIP, 10 January 2002: by Brian Byrne. A 'further investigation' is to be made on drainage problems at Captain's Hill in Leixlip following dissatisfaction by Leixlip Area councillors at a report made on the issue recently. Kildare County Council official Charlie Talbot (left) has undertaken to have a comprehensive report available for the next meeting in February.

"There are ongoing serious problems being experienced by some residents of Dun Carraig because of the drainage situation," says Cllr Catherine Murphy. "The report should address the issue of the original planning permission for Dun Carraig as it relates to drainage, the retaining wall that was subsequent to the original planning application, and the taking in charge of Dun Carraig and what obligations the Council had to deal with outstanding issues such as this one."

The topic has come up several times in the past at area meetings, but no progress on solving the problem has yet been achieved.
