Bond Bridge levies demand

16 October 2003: Maynooth councillor John McGinley has demanded that the 2004 Budget of Kildare County Council set Development Contributions at such a level as to cover the full cost of the Bond Bridge realignment and also all of the ring roads identified in the Maynooth Development Plan.

This follows revelations that the council doesn’t have sufficient funds to build the new bridge, though money has been set aside for it for years.

In a submission to the Budget 2004, Cllr McGinley also said he wants similar Development Contributions set to cover the cost of social infrastructures in the Leixlip Electoral Area, including a Swimming Pool Complex, Community centre and Children’s Playground in Maynooth, and an Arts Centre and Children’s Playground in Leixlip.
