President opens Gang Camp extension

10 April 2003: The President, Mrs Mary McAleese, has opened an extension to the medical centre at the Barretstown Gang Camp for sick children in Ballymore.

Money for the extension was provided by Monkstown Hospital Foundation and the SW Area Health Board.

Barretstown is one of a number of special facilities set up by actor Paul Newman to provide therapeutic holidays for children diagnosed with serious illnesses, including cancer.
