Respite unit to remain

07 October 2003: The South Western Health Board says it will maintain a respite service in St Vincent's Hospital in Athy, following earlier reports that the service was to be discontinued.

The board says nine beds will be maintained for the service, but that there will be a cut of 6 per cent in the number of long-stay beds available so that the board can stay within budget.

The board says it believes this reduction is a 'short term' measure.
