Call for interest in Athy enterprise centre

ATHY 15 January 2003: The Athy Investment, Development and Employment Forum has invited people interested in setting up businesses, or relocating their enterprises during 2003 to consider setting up in the Community Enterprise Centre due for completion in the town later this year.

The Forum was successful last year in a proposal to Enterprise Ireland for support to build such a Centre, intended to be a 'one-stop-shop' in Athy for existing businesses that wish to grow, as a resource for new enterprises and as a business-friendly location where people can operate their business from a safe, clean and modern premises with supporting facilities.

The Centre is to be built next to the IDA Advance Factory, at the south of the town. In total, the first phase should be able to accommodate 15 individual businesses in units that vary in size.

"We would hope that when the project is complete and the units are let, businesses at the Centre will employ approximately 40 local people," says Dorian Marks, the spokesperson for the Forum.
