Bog of Allen project

17 October 2003: A Project Manager is to be recruited for the Bog of Allen Project being developed by the Irish Peatland Conservation Council as part of a move by the council to the former Peatland World Centre at Lullymore in Rathangan.

The Project includes the development of indoor and outdoor education and public awareness displays on peatlands and environmental issues, and the creation of a commercially viable conservation project and Centre of Excellence in County Kildare.

The initial elements of the Project will involve a renovation of the 8,000 sq ft of buildings at Lullymore, and an upgrading of the services of the Council from the new headquarters. Subsequently, habitat creation projects and the development of the public displays will be developed.

The new Bog of Allen Project Manager will be responsible to the the Board of Directors of IPCC and will be someone with proven fundraising and PR skills. The contract will commence in the autumn of 2003.
