Kildare 2012 - An Economic, Social and Cultural Strategy
Kildare County Development Board
In order to co-ordinate the range of services available at local level, the Task Force on the Integration of Local Development and Local Government recommended the setting up of City and County Development Boards (CDB) in each city and county in Ireland. Kildare County Development Board (KCDB) was set up in March 2000. With 28 members, KCDB brings together the local authorities, the other major public service providers, local development agencies and social partners. KCDB aims to:
Improve co-ordination and co-operation in the delivery of services at local level thereby improving the quality of those services
-
Involve local interests and communities in deciding on how, where and what type of services should be available
The broad functions of KCDB are to:
-
Draw up a Strategy for the economic, social and cultural development of the county for the next 10 years
-
Oversee the implementation of the Strategy
-
Promote co-operation between the various bodies and interests represented on KCDB and ensure that all members of the Board take a full and active role in this new partnership
-
Review the Strategy and Action Plan as required
- Report to the Minister for the Environment and Local Government and to the Task Force as appropriate
