Investigate the feasibility of various options for local access to public and social services in particular:

  • Facilitated IT kiosks and information points with information on local services in libraries, schools, shops/post offices etc.
  • One-stop-shops to provide a range of social and community services, including the housing of the outreach Interdisciplinary Team
  • Local Public Service Centres
  • Developing existing rural shops, libraries and post offices into points of service delivery

Devise a programme of events/activities within local urban and rural areas to build community spirit and encourage family and community interaction, particularly among long-established and new residents, first steps might be:

  • Devising a welcome pack for new residents detailing local services and activities
  • Hosting a series of multi-cultural events to celebrate all cultures in the county
  • Surveying new and old residents as to their needs,
    perceptions etc. of the communities they live in
  • Devising an education and community development
    programme to teach children and new residents about rural ways of life
  • Devising programmes for older people including -
    'reminiscence finders' to be included in a County Museum
