John Sullivan Centre |
The
John Sullivan Day Centre has been established since 1990, when pre-fabricated
buildings were purchased and set on site.
Since then a new centre was built. It was opened in May 2000.
It
is a purpose built facility which includes computer room, conference
room, activity room, therapy room, arts and craft room and a spacious
dining area. We deliver a service to people with physical and sensory
disabilities across a broad age group.

The
centre is named after Fr. John Sullivan SJ (1861-1933) who was
ordained in 1907 following a distinguished career at the English
bar and his conversion to Catholicism in 1896.

|
On his return to Ireland, Fr John Sullivan SJ became a constant
visitor to the hospice in Harolds Cross and the night refuge
run by the Sisters of Mercy, Brick Lane, Dublin. He spent
a considerable number of years on the staff at Clongowes Wood
College at Clane. Many cures were attributed to him. His remains
are buried at St Xavier's Church in Dublin.
