
LAOIS WELCOMES GORDON BENNETT
FESTIVAL
Major motor-sport festival comes
to The Heath, Bank Holiday Monday
As part of the Irish Gordon Bennett Motor-racing festival this weekend,
The Heath will host the Laois leg of this event. On Bank Holiday (Monday
2nd June 2003) motorcars from the last one hundred years will participate
in time trials on The Heath from 11:00 am. In conjunction with this
event, a large display vintage Cars & Agricultural Machinery.
Other events occurring over the weekend include,
Saturday 31st May
Vintage & Classic Car run leaves County Hall Portlaoise @ 10.00
a.m. for a run on the Laois heritage trail.
Sunday 1st June
Vintage, Classic car & Motorbike run from Treacy's The Heath @
10.30 on the original Gordon Bennett route through Monasterevin, Kildare,
Curragh, Kilcullen, Timolin, Moone, Castledermot, Carlow, Stradbally
and ending at the Gandon Inn @ 6.00p.m. A reception & talk on
the Race Etc by Bob Montgomery
Monday 2nd June
100 Years of Motoring. Time trials, Cars through the Century on The
Heath from 11.00 a.m. with display of vintage Cars & Agricultural
Machinery.
