GORDON-BENNETT CUP RACE.

July 7th is the probable date of the Gordon-Bennett Cup Race, as the County Council of Queen’s County has named this as the most suitable day. The Race Committee of the Automobile Club meets on March 11th to consider the arrangements for the contest and appoint a small special committee of the English and Irish Automobile Clubs finally to fix the case, settle controls, show County Surveyors what road repairs and banking of bridges etc., are necessary, so that estimates may be prepared; to consider the question of public safety by dividing the route into sections, and appointing a committee from each, who will see to the blocking of bye-roads, the arranging of motor bicycle patrols, and the erection of temporary barriers; to decide on the methods of time-keeping at controls, and to determine if repairs or replenishments are to be allowed within controls, and whether anyone but the driver and mechanic may assist in these.
