Poor Law Unions

THE ATHY UNION is situated partly in the county of Kildare, partly in King's county, and partly in Queen's county; it contains an area of 163,377 statute acres, and a population of 47,912. The valuation of property rated in the Union amounts to 102,881. There are 14 Electoral Divisions, represented by 24 elected, and 12 ex-officio Guardians. The Workhouse was opened in January 1844, and affords accommodation for 1,120 inmates. The Board of Guardians meets on Wednesdays.

THE CELBRIDGE UNION is situated partly in the county of Kildare, partly in the county of Dublin, and partly in the county of Meath; it contains on area of 86,801 statute acres, and a population of 25,242. The valuation of property rated in the Union amounts to 130,776. There are 15 Electoral Divisions, represented by 19 elected, and 14 ex-officio Guardians. The Workhouse was opened in June, 1841, and affords accommodation for 519 inmates. The Board of Guardians meets on Wednesdays.

The NAAS UNION is situated partly in the county of Kildare, partly in the county of Dublin, and partly in the county of Wicklow; it contains an area of 207,377 statute acres, and a population of 52,228. The valuation of property rated in the Union amounts to 135,232. There are 23 electoral Divisions, represented by 30 elected, and 15 ex-officio Guardians. The Workhouse was opened in August, 1841, and affords accommodation for 1,110 inmates. The Board of Guardians meets on Wednesdays.
