GORDON BENNETT CUP.
SUGGESTED CHANGE OF COURSE.

The current issue of the “Automobile Journal” gives several interesting particulars concerning the proposed arrangements for the motor race for the Gordon-Bennett Cup. A Special Commission, consisting of Mr. S. F. Edge, Mr. C. Johnson, Mr. W. G. D. Goff, Chairman of the Irish Automobile Club, and Mr. R. J. Mecredy, its hon. secretary and treasurer, was appointed to go over the proposed course to fix controls, and, with the County Surveyors, to arrange what repairs would be necessary to the roads, and whether it would be necessary to bank up bridges, in order that the Co. Surveyors might prepare and submit estimates of the cost. The Special Commission were to meet on Wednesday, the 18th inst., at 7.15 a.m. at Kildare Station. It was agreed that if, after examination, it should be found desirable, the course should be made to go direct from Kilcullen to the north of the Curragh Camp, thus avoiding the somewhat twisting roads between Kilcullen and Naas, and Naas and Newbridge. It is to be hoped that the improvement of the road surface, which is to be defrayed out of the fund now being raised by the Automobile Club, will afford labour at good wages to a number of people.
