VANDALISM AT GREY ABBEY

On the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of December two headstones were knocked over and damaged and a statue broken at Grey Abbey

On the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of December two headstones were knocked over and damaged and a statue broken. Its disheartening to see this sort of vandalism when every effort is being made to maintain the graveyard as a place of refuge and beauty for the people of the town. It is likewise, hurtful to the families of the town who have loved ones buried there, particularly the families of those whose relations are buried in the graves whose markers were vandalised. I have reported the matter to the Gardai but they cannot be there every minute of the day so the people of Kildare Town must be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour. We hope there will not be a repeat of this senseless act.

The following images speak for themselves.
