Magic of the Musicals

In 1986 Athy Musical and Dramatic Society staged a Musical variety show ‘Happy Days are Here Again’. 30 years on we are to stage another musical variety show ‘M...agic of the Musicals’ directed and choreographed by Shirley Mooney featuring songs from many of the much loved musicals we have staged since 1986. 

The show, to be staged next week on the 1st and 2nd of June in the Clanard Court Hotel, will be an exciting fun filled evening's entertainment, suitable for all the family old and young. Songs from ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Brigadoon’, ‘Oliver’ and many more. Nobody can forget Tony Cardiff's memorable performance as ‘Fagan’ in 1995 and then again in 2010. Well he is back again to show he hasn’t lost his touch! There are excellent performances not just from Tony but from all our cast members. We will leave the rest as a surprise! 

We are delighted and excited to also announce that we will have our very special guests from ‘Shooting Stars’ appearing on stage with us. They are sure to bring the joy and fun any good musical show should have.

Isobel Brady who runs Shooting Stars has been incredibly busy with the help of our President Imelda Dooley, in organising costumes for the show. No mean feat as costumes for 8 musicals for all cast members had to be sourced. You will see they have done a tremendous job!

Shirley Mooney has worked tirelessly for the past number of weeks with all the cast members to ensure that you all thoroughly enjoy the night. All we can do now is sit back and wait patiently for opening night to arrive. Tickets are available in The Gem and Winkles at 10 euro each. They will also be available at the door in the Clanard on each night of the show. The show will begin at 8pm but arrive early to ensure you get the best seats in the house!
