Big Telly’s smash hit stage production of Spike Milligan’s PUCKOON returns for an all-Ireland and UK tour in Spring/Summer 2016.  The show’s sell-out 2009 and remounted 2011 tour had audiences all across Ireland screaming with laughter at its Goonish blend of theatrical anarchy, musical wit, and impossible plot.

Ireland 1922, and the Ulster Boundary Commission has drawn the new border straight through the small town of Puckoon.  With the church separated from its own graveyard and drink now thirty percent cheaper in one corner of the pub, life in the newly divided village will never be the same again.

Based on the book by Spike Milligan, this comic masterpiece is an irreverent and hilarious story which takes the mick, celebrates the absurd, and paints a picture of a simple life that borders on the ridiculous.

Based on the book by Spike Milligan; Directed by Zoe Seaton; Music by Paul Boyd

What the critics say...

“They say there is a thin line between insanity and genius and Big Telly's adaptation of Spike Milligan's novel Puckoon demonstrates how very thin that line is, and how very easy it is to jump back and forth across that line with a silly grin on one's face.” British Theatre Guide, Puckoon, 2011

"It is easy see why this rumbustious romp of a show has been a huge hit barnstorming around Ireland. The wildly talented company of six actor-musicians attack Spike Milligan’s absurd comic novel with inspired physical gusto..." WhatsOnStage.com, Puckoon, 2011

“A rip-roaring piece of physical theatre ... HUGELY ENTERTAINING ... a glossy production which looks great!” The Stage, Puckoon, 2009

“The madcap genius of Spike Milligan ... a PYTHONESQUE piece of oddball entertainment”  Irish Times, Puckoon, 2009
