Went down to British champion

Local player Nick Mahon, Claregate Street, was beaten by British champion Bobby Wilson in the first round of the Men’s Singles at the Lawn Tennis championships at Fitzwilliam Club, Dublin on Monday.

Two members of St. Brigid’s Club to feature in doubles victories at different venues were Tommy Whelan who won in Droichead Nua and Louis Hennessy who successfully partnered Miss Ruth Rogers of Dunboyne at the North Kildare club tournament.
