Well done, Narraghmore

Narraghmore Pipe Band had their greatest victory yet when they won the Northern Ireland Novice Championship at Ballyclare. They received the Ballyclare Cup, a cash prize of £25 and they also won the cup for the best corps of drummers.

They will be presented with the cups at the All-Ireland contents at Newry in July. Twenty five bands competed at Ballyclare, and Narraghmore were the only competitors from the 26 Counties in that grade. They are now strong favourites to win the All-Ireland title.

Narraghmore drum corps is regarded as one of Ireland’s best in any grade and backed by ten first class pipers is a match for any band. Narraghmore are now holders of the following cups: Provincial Champions (2 years), East of Ireland Champions, Northern Ireland Novice Champions, Fingal Drumming Champions, and Irish Novice Drumming Champions.

The Fintan Lalor Pipe Band who travelled to Ballyclare with the Narraghmore Band won the senior event and also won the prize for the best drum corps senior grade. So it was a proud day for Mr. J. Keogh senior, trainer of both bands who just came out of hospital after a serious illness, and travelled with both bands to Ballyclare.
