The Contribution of Nurses To Kildare Life

by ehistoryadmin on April 25, 2020

The County Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee had planned an event for today Saturday 25th April 2020 to mark the contribution of nurses to Kildare life over the past 100 years. (The Irish Nurses Union was founded in 1919). Little was it known when organising the event, that the immense contribution of nurses to Kildare society would become into such sharp focus for us all with the current pandemic. The Covid-19 situation inevitably led to the postponement of the event.
Several keynote speakers were lined up, while an exhibition of photographs was also planned for display on the day. These are a selection of some of these images. (Thanks to Cllr. Peggy O’Dwyer and Ms. Myra Garahan for these). We would like to thank all of our frontline nurses for their heroic work for us all during this challenging time.
