Royal visitors

Royal visitors Lord Snowdon and his wife, Princess Margaret, drove on Friday to Leixlip Castle, where they were received by the Hon. Desmond Guinness and Mrs. Guinness. Lord Snowdon was at the wheel of Lady de Vesci’s M.G. 1100 as the party toured the surrounding countryside. At Connolly’s Folly, near Carton, Lord Snowdon borrowed a newspaper photographer’s camera to take pictures of the party before the obelisk. They visited Lord and Lady Brockett at Carton House and Lord and Lady Carew at Castletown, Celbridge, before returning to Abbeyleix. The Princess chatted with local people during the obelisk visit.
