Learning Irish. Mr. Buckley’s method

The appointment of Mr. Buckley as Governor-General has a special interest for the Irish-speaking people of Ring, Co. Waterford. He was a member of the Committee of Management of Ring Irish College 20 years ago. He took with him to his business place at Maynooth three Irish-speaking boys from Ring to whom Mr. Buckley and his children never spoke any language but Irish.

When these boys had completed their apprenticeship he helped them to set up in business for themselves and took other Irish-speaking boys from Ring.
