Upcoming Festival of History – Greystones 26-28th September

ThiS year’s La Touche Legacy Seminar is being held in association with the Greystones Archaeological and Historical Society from 26- 28th September as a Festival of History.

The weekend, focusing on the forthcoming centenary of World War 1, will feature the Great War Roadshow, with contributions from RTE broadcaster and historian, Dr Myles Dungan, historians Turtle Bunbury, Dr Ciaran Wallace and John O’Keeffe, while a Wicklow perspective on the events of 1914-18 will be provided by local historian, Brendan Flynn.

In addition, there will be talks from Cllr Christopher Fox, Lord Meath and Dep. Anne Ferris TD providing their own personal reflections on WW1 and to keep the Ards/Greystones connection, two talks by Rosemary Raughter and Mark Thompson “Stories of Wicklow-Ballads of Down

While material relating to World War 1 will be of particular relevance to the overall theme, one of the primary functions of the weekend will be to provide a showcase for the wide range of research in which local history societies and local historians are currently engaged.
