Kildare Bird Watch

A talk on The work of the National Parks and Wildlife Service in Kildare, by Ciara Flynn.

This will take place on Thursday 12th Feb at 8pm in The Townhouse Hotel, Naas.

There is a club outing to the Mullingar lakes on Sat 14th Feb. Meet at Lidl car park on Mullingar bypass at 10:00am.

 

Heritage Council Grants

Minister Heather Humphreys announced a small fund for Community Grants for the Heritage Council this week. The Heritage Council have said they will announce details of the grants scheme in mid-February. More details will follow, but if you have an idea fora project for this year, you can see previous year’s application details at http://www.heritagecouncil.ie/grants/grants/ and start gathering the information you will need. Community Heritage Grant Scheme

Kildare County Council is pleased to announce the Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2015. Applications are invited from groups/organisations or individuals who are carrying out local heritage projects. The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 18 March 2015. I have attached applications forms and guidelines or forms can be downloaded from http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/Heritage/Grants/.

 

Carton Winter Lecture Series 2014-15

LECTURE 4 Monday, 16 February at 8.00 pm

Lecture given by Edmund Joyce (Carlow IT) on the topic of Sir Richard and William Vitruvius Morrison and their remodeling of the Irish Country House 

Many eighteenth century country houses were altered and enlarged by the Morrisons during the early nineteenth century. This talk by Edmund Joyce looks at how the eighteenth century internal spaces and exterior facades of houses such as Carton, Borris and Fota were transformed and reconfigured in order to reflect the fashions of regency life.
