OBITUARY

DEATH OF PARISH PRIEST

Very Rev. Fr. O’Brien, Clonmore Carlow

The late Very Rev. Fr. O’Brien, P.P. Clonmore, Carlow who died last week was Curate in Kill Parish in 1916.

An ardent supporter of the fight for Independence he mobilized with the Kill Coy of Volunteers on Easter Monday. He volunteered to go to Dublin and get in touch with G.H.Q., returning to Kill with instructions for Kill Coy which was under the command of the late Patrick Dunne, and was joined on Easter Monday night by two men from Naas Coy. Thomas Traynor, and the late Thomas Patterson. Fr. O’Brien did not get back from Dublin and Capt. Dunne decided to send the men home on Friday evening.
