1911 Shanballymor – a second success in a row for rider John Doyle, who purchased Rossmore Lodge for £1,300 in December of that year.

1912 Civility – Limerick native Bartholemew ‘Batt’ Kirby with a memorable success in his first season as a public trainer in Curragh View.

1913 Bachelor’s Wedding – Once trained by Michael Dawson as a two year old

1915 Ballaghtobin – Trained by J. Hunter Conyngham Lodge Curragh under Tommy Lushington; ridden by Willie Barrett

1916 Furore – bred by Capt. Henry Greer – sold as a yearling

1917 First Flier – Owned and trained by J. J. Parkinson at Maddenstown Lodge; ridden by Willie Barrett

1918 King John – Though trained in Newmarket he was owned by Capt. Giles Loder and trained by P. P. Gilpin who also had a stud at Dollanstown, Co. Kildare

1919 Loch Lomond – trained by J. J. Parkinson at Maddenstown Lodge though he had been in training with Michael Dawson; ridden by Martin Quirke

1921 Ballyheron – Trained by J. Hunter Conyngham Lodge Curragh; ridden by Morny Wing (6 Derbies)

1922 Spike Island – Though trained in Newmarket he was owned by Major Giles Loder and trained by P. P. Gilpin who also had a stud at Dollanstown, Co. Kildare

1923 Waygood – Morny Wing in the saddle – Morny an honorary Kildare man almost at this stage!

1924 1st DEAD HEAT- Haine – ridden by Joe Canty and – Zodiac – owned by Major Giles Loder

1927 Knight of the Grail – Had been owned for a time by Andrew Young of Naas

1929 Kopi – MP Byrne, the first man to broadcast an Irish Derby on radio in 1929

Owned by diamond millionaire Solomon Barnato Joel, Kopi was Bred by Giles Loder in Eyrefield Stud

1931 Sea Serpent – Philip Behan of Mountjoy Lodge became the fourth Behan brother to win the Derby following Nicholas (1882), William (1884) and Jack (1910). Ridden by Joe Canty.

1932 Dastur – Bred for the Aga Khan at Sheshoon Stud by Sir Henry Greer

1934 2nd DEAD HEAT – Patriot King and Primero

1935 Museum – Trained by John T. Rogers at Crotanstown, Curragh; ridden by Steve Donoghue. the first Irish Triple Crown winner .

1937 Phideas – Trained by John T. Rogers at Crotanstown, Curragh; ridden by Steve Donoghue

1939 Mondragon – Trained by James Canty at Ruenbeg, Curragh; ridden by the younger brother Joe Canty –

1940 Turkhan – Owned by the Aga Khan he was born and bred at Sheshoon Stud

1942 Windsor Slipper – TRIPLE CROWN – Owned by Joe McGrath who had purchased Brownstown Stud in 1941, ridden by Morny Wing some six lengths clear – new course record. Retired to Stud at Brownstown.

1943 The Phoenix – Ridden by Joe Canty

1944 Slide On – Trained by Robert Fetherstonhaugh at Loughbrown Lodge, Curragh; jockey Jack Moylan and owner Major McCalmont

1945 Picadilly

Trained by Robert Fetherstonhaugh at Loughbrown Lodge, Curragh; jockey Jack Moylan and owner Major McCalmont

1946 Bright News – Ridden by Morny Wing (his favourite of his 6 Derbies); Trained by Darby Rogers at Curragh Grange.

1948 Nathoo – Bred by the Agha Khan at Sheshoon

1949 Hindostan – Bred by the Agha Khan at Sheshoon

1950 Dark Warrior

Owned by bloodstock agent Francis ‘Frankie’ More O’Ferrall; Trained at Rossmore Lodge, Curragh, by P. J. (Patrick Joseph) ‘Paddy’ Prendergast – Darkie; ridden by J. W .‘Jackie’ Thompson (1922-1992)

1952 – Thirteen of Diamonds – Trained at Rossmore Lodge, Curragh, by P. J J. Prendergast

1954 Zarathustra – Trained by Michael Hurley at Osborne Lodge, Curragh – succeeded there by his son Dermot and in turn Dessie Hughes

Ridden by Paddy Powell who had served part of his apprenticeship with Roderic More O’Ferrall at Kildangan.

1955 Panaslipper –

Ridden by Jimmy Eddery – originally from Cork – in later years in licensed trade in Kildare

1956 Talgo – Bred by Brigadier C. M. Stewart at Dowdstown House Stud

1958 Sindon – Trained by Michael Dawson, Rathbride manor who took over Rathbride in 1946 after death of older brother Joseph. Michael retired quietly from racing in 1970

Owned by Mrs Anne Bullitt-Biddle – had married Roderic More O’Ferrall – they separated and she established Palmerstown Stud near Naas in 1965. Married a US Congressman named Brewster and under that name became the first woman to train a winner in Ireland

Ridden by Liam Ward who won the Oaks that year also- apprenticed to Roderic More O’Ferrall at Kildangan and then Martin Quirke at Mountjoy Lodge – rode 10 Irish Classic winners

1959 – Bred by Brigadier C. M. Stewart at Dowdstown House Stud

1961 – Your Highness

Ridden by Herbert Bert Holmes – for a time at J. T. Rogers stable and later stable jockey at Loughbrown with Bob Fetherstonhaugh who was the Irish trainer for Mr and Mrs Stanhope Joel owners of the winner
