Introduction to Water Services The water services section is responsible for the provision and maintenance of adequate water supplies and wastewater (sewerage) treatment and discharge facilities in compliance with both the EU Drinking Water Directive and EU Urban Waster Water Treatment Directive.

The Water Services function is divided into four sections:

• Ongoing Operation and Maintenance of Water and Wastewater (Sewerage)
• Capital Investment Programme (new schemes)
• Rural Water Programme
• Flood Alleviation
