…… the LABAN GUILD COMMUNITY DANCE TEACHERS COURSE could be for you!
It is expected that course members will:
- Develop a working knowledge of the body/space/effort/relationship fundamentals of movement through the practical study of Laban’s work
- Develop an understanding of body design and function
- Learn how to make dances for and with community dance groups
- Learn how to plan and prepare Laban-based creative community dance sessions; how to lead community groups and how to utilise a variety of teaching methods
- Be advised on administration, organisation, marketing and publicity
- Be advised on legal responsibilities e.g. Duty Of Care, Risk Assessment, Insurance
WHAT SORT OF PEOPLE COME ON THESE COURSES?
All sorts of people – artists, dancers, teachers, as well as drama teachers, physiotherapists, social workers, even engineers and computer specialists - providing they have the necessary experience and a love of dance
The course takes place in Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, Co Kildare. It consists of 11 weekends of practical workshops, over 18 months, commencing 8 th April 2006.
Course fees are € 1,100.00, plus an initial registration fee of € 95.00, plus the cost of attending a recommended summer school. Fees may be paid in instalments.
AN INTRODUCTORY DAY WILL TAKE PLACE IN NEWBRIDGE ON SATURDAY 4 TH FEBRUARY 2006, 10am- 4pm. Fee including lunch €10.00. ALL WELCOME, BUT BOOKING ESSENTIAL !!

The Laban Guild is a National Governing Body in the UK and so is empowered to award its own certificates. It is also a registered charity. The Laban Guild Community Dance Leaders course is a long established course, recognised internationally
