A high-speed WiMAX broadband and phone network has been launched in Leixlip, Imagine Communications Group has announced. The roll-out incorporates the Intel Ireland Campus.
The new wireless technology provides fast internet and phone access at home and on the move for 50% less than prices currently being charged, the company said.
Intel Ireland and Motorola are Imagine's partners in the €100-million roll-out of the WiMAX technology in Ireland.
Imagine said the service will save Leixlip homeowners and local Intel staff at least €300 a year on their phone and broadband bills. The network will deliver the fastest and most reliable broadband internet ever seen in Leixlip.
The company has said that it will expand WiMAX coverage in the Kildare region this year.
