O’Brien Tries for 11th Juddmonte Beresford Stakes; Curragh, Sun

Akeed Mofeed heads entries for Juddmonte Beresford Stakes

Akeed Mofeed will aim to confirm his status as one of Ireland’s top 2 year olds when he lines up for the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh this Sunday.

The John Oxx trained colt is one of seven runners declared to run in the Group 2 feature. Trainer Aidan O’Brien will attempt to win the race for the 11 th time and will be represented by Athens and David Livingston. Other notable entries include the Dermot Weld trained pair of Furner’s Green and Blue White Fire, while Jim Bolger has Parish Hall and Whip Rule.

Coral Wave moves up a grade following her impressive all the way success in the Listed Flame Of Tara EBF Stakes at this venue just over a week ago when she lines up in the Group Three C L Weld Park Stakes. The Paddy Prendergast juvenile is one of 10 fillies to stand their ground in the seven furlong race which has also attracted Madhmoonah, Angel Bright, Lady Wingshot, Princess Sinead and Kinetica trained in Britain by Sir Mark Prescott

A packed program of family entertainment during the afternoon will provide the Pony Club with the opportunity to highlight their various activities with presentations supported by TRI Equestrian to their winning teams, including Horse Trials, Hunter Trials, Mounted Games, Minimus, Tetrathlon, Show Jumping and Dressage taking place during the afternoon. The winning Irish Pony Club National Musical Ride team from County Laois will perform on the track between races, while the team from the Island Branch will also perform .

 Admission €15 Under 16s free. The first of seven races at the Curragh on Sunday commences at 2.10 pm
