New Rose of Tralee to star at the Curragh this Sunday

Newly crowned Rose of Tralee Rose Clare Kamembattu, originally from Athy in County Kildare, will be the guest of honour at the Curragh races this Sunday when she heads the judging panel for the Newbridge Silverware “Search for a Style Icon” competition. Other judges include Gay and Kathleen Watkins and RTE News presenter Anne Doyle. The winning lady will received a €5k gift voucher redeemable in the Newbridge Silverware Showrooms as well as an exquisite piece from the Newbridge Silverware Vintage Collection.

Ladies will be very much the main focus on the day with The Curragh providing free admission for all ladies who attend, while the 38th running of the Moyglare Stud Stakes takes centre stage on the track. Memory, the top rated 2 year old filly in Britain, heads the entries for the Group 1 contest and she will face stiff competition from the home trained team lead by Laughing Lashes, Misty For Me, Wild Wind, Together and Seeharn. The Goffs Flying Five will have a very strong overseas challenge including Blue Jack, who is owned by Manchester United and England soccer star Michael Owen.

There will also be a major GAA theme with the Kildare v Down game shown on screens throughout the racecourse, while there will be FREE official Kildare GAA caps given out to children

To encourage people to watch the game and enjoy great racing, admission has also been reduced to €10, Under 25s and Seniors will be €5, while all ladies and Under 16s will enjoy free admission to what promises to be an outstanding day.
