The annual Irish Horse Racing Awards honour the human and equine talent which has made racing one of the country’s most popular sports and delivered great success in the international arena.
The National Hunt Award went to Kildare-based jockey Ruby Walsh, who was crowned Champion National Hunt Jockey in 2008 with 131 wins.
The talented jockey reached his 1,000th winner at Irish tracks in Sligo in May.
Ruby is currently recovering from an operation to remove his spleen following a fall at the Cheltenham Open meeting on the 15th November and is hoping to make a return to the saddle this week.
