Mazda and Mondello Sign Exclusive 5 Year Deal

Mazda Motor Ireland and the Mondello Park Motor Racing School have announced the signing of an exclusive 5-year deal which will see Mazda Motor Ireland as the exclusive supplier of vehicles to the Mondello Park Motor Racing School

Under the agreement terms, Mazda Motor Ireland will supply Mondello Park with 10 race-ready Mazda3 vehicles which will be used throughout the coming race season.

The Mazda3 is renowned as one of the most responsive and sharpest handling cars in its class, and this dynamic chassis will now provide the platform for the fleet of ten race-prepared Mazda3 vehicles.

Mondello Park’s Racing School has been in operation since 2000 and with over 5,000 drivers completing courses in 2007, its reputation as the best motor sport experience in Ireland is firmly cemented. The addition of the Mazda3’s to the race school fleet is set to add extra ‘Zoom-Zoom’ to the initial stage of the course, where drivers learn the skills and techniques necessary to drive one of the school’s single seat racers.

“We are delighted to be in partnership with the Mondello Park Motor Racing School,” said David McGonigle, Managing Director, Mazda Motor Ireland. “It’s a great fit for both of us, where the dynamically superior Mazda3 models will provide the driving thrills which Mondello Park Racing School customers except.”

John Morris, Managing Director, Mondello said: “Mazda is clearly a brand on the move and we are delighted to have them join us in the Motor Racing School. There is no doubt that the addition of the Mazda 3’s will significantly enhance the product as a whole and provide participants with an even better experience in 2008 and beyond”.

While the Mazda3 is available in four and five door models with a choice of 1.4 & 1.6l petrol engines in conjunction with frugal 1.6 diesel variant, Mondello Park Motor Racing School has chosen the responsive 1.6l petrol 5-door model as its official track car.

As part of Mazda’s partnership with Mondello, two BT-50 pick-up’s will also be supplied to the circuit. These vehicles will be fitted out as Fast Intervention vehicles for use during race events at the circuit. Their kit will include fire fighting and towing equipment, in addition to being dressed for circuit use with high visibility signage and warning lights.

The Racing School is also benefiting from a new partnership with Safety Direct, who will be the exclusive suppliers of all-new safety clothing and race helmets.

Mondello Park Motor Racing School is currently taking bookings for the 2008 season for its beginner, intermediate and advanced courses.
