Curragh To Close During Reconstruction

The Turf Cub have announced that the Curragh racecourse will be closed while building work is carried out.

Originally set to begin construction work in September 2008, it was planned to continue racing while construction work was completed. However, on taking advice on health and safety issues, it has been decided that racing cannot continue until construction work is finished.

The racecourse will be closed between the end of July 2009 and March 2011. All of the 2010 fixtures affected will be re-located to other racecourses by Horse Racing Ireland.

The 2010 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby will be run at Leopardstown racecourse.
