As Kildare Olympians John Joe Joyce and Eoin Rheinisch prepare to take part in the Beijing Olympics, Kildare looks on with high hopes for the two men. John Joe Joyce will be competing in the Boxing - Light Welterweight while Eoin Rheinisch competes in the Canoeing – Men’s Kayak K1 event.
John Joe comes from a famous Kildare boxing family and is a member of the St. Michael's Club in Athy, the nursery of many renowned Irish boxing internationals.
Eoin is a World Cup gold medalist and a 5-time World Cup finalist, Ireland’s top paddler made his Olympic debut in Athens. Now 28, he is based in Leixlip’s Salmon Leap Canoe Club.
