Alfa Romeo centenary to headline Mondello Classic Car Show

This weekend's annual 'Classic Car Live' show in association with Irish Vintage Scene magazine, is set to be the biggest gathering of Alfa Romeo cars ever seen in Ireland as the unique show celebrates one hundred years of the Italian thoroughbred. The exhibition takes place at Mondello Park on Sunday June 20th and with this years date falling on Fathers day a bumper crowd is expected.

The Alfa Romeo display will be the centre-peice of the event with the Italian cars taking over a large area of the show, before taking to the track in the final parade of the afternoon. Cars of various vintages are expected, from pre war racing cars to iconic sixties classics such as the Alfa Spyder and more modern sporting saloons such as the GTV and 75, with the display topped off by a selection of cars from the current Alfa range.

Alongside the Italian stars will be representatives from the biggest range of owners clubs ever to exhibit at Classic Car Live including the largest ever contingent from event supporters, the Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club, who are the umbrella group for Classic Motoring in Ireland. Irish Vintage Scene will also bring a selection of high quality cars as they once again display a number of the cars which have graced the cover of the magazine over the past year.

For those interested in Classic Car products, parts, services and memorabilia, the trade area will feature a larger number of exhibitors than at any of the previous Mondello Classic Car shows. Regular event supporters AXA insurance will be just one of a large number of traders on hand to help current and prospective car owners to keep their classic vehicles on the road.

Throughout the show the Mondello Park track will be kept busy. Three groups of high speed track sessions for performance cars will start the day off and will be followed by races for historic saloons and sportscars, Pre 1955 race cars and historic single seaters. The track activity will be rounded off by one of the most popular parts of 'Classic Car Live', the parade laps, where show exhibitors get the chance to take their cars for some slow laps of the circuit. The last of these parade laps will be for the Alfa Romeo's and will culminate with a photo shoot on the main straight which will close the show.

Tickets for the event are priced at €10.00 for adults with under sixteen's admitted free and are available either on the day or in advance through the Mondello Park web site www.mondellopark.ie.
