The Leaving Cert starts today with over 53,000 students sitting exams in 89 subjects over 13 days. The examinations run until Thursday June 19th for Junior Cert, and Friday 20th June for the Leaving Cert. Over 110,000 Leaving Cert and Junior Cert students in total will sit exams in 4,600 centres and 3 million exam papers will be used.
The Leaving Cert results will be available on Wednesday, August 13th with Junior Cert results available in mid September. This will be the first time a new more student-friendly timetable will be put into operation. The new timetable is designed to ease the pressure during the early days of the Leaving Cert.
The first day will begin with the first of two English papers and the Home Economics paper in the afternoon. Chemistry, the first Maths paper and Geography are all in this weeks timetable, while both Irish papers will begin in the second week of exams, on Monday and Tuesday.
