Additional Funding of €1.8 million for NUI Maynooth

NUI Maynooth is to receive funding of €1.8 million from the Department of Education for small scale building works and high-tech equipment upgrades according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State, Áine Brady.

"This funding will allow NUI Maynooth to undertake a range of improvement, refurbishment and health and safety works. It will also help to pay for new equipment and the provision of energy conservation measures."

"This is the latest funding for NUI Maynooth where the sod was recently turned on a new library where contracts were signed for the €20 million project."

"The funding of €1.8 million will be devolved to the University so they can decide for themselves where best to spend the money. In this way they can manage their own projects and target the funding where it is needed most."

"NUI Maynooth has increased their student numbers significantly over the past number of years so I am delighted to see this additional investment."

"NUI Maynooth has formed a long and credible relationship with the high tech industry in Kildare and works closely with Intel and others to develop courses and research, which is why it is so important that we continue to invest in the building and its equipment," concluded Minister Brady.
