Sean O Fearghaill TD Kildare County Council and Athy and Naas Town Councils are to receive a massive funding boost to pay for work to the county’s regional and local roads, according to local Fianna Fail T.D., Sean Ó Feargháil.

“The Minister for Transport has announced that Kildare County Council will receive €28,178,630; Athy Town Council will get €287,000 and Naas Town Council will receive €605,000 for work to regional and local roads.”

“The funding that Kildare County Council will receive will pay for maintenance, restoration and improvement to the county’s roads.”

“Several roads will also receive funding for specific safety improvement work and specific improvement grants will be provided for several roads in South Kildare including €400,000 for Athgarvan Road, €1,000,000 for Adreigh in Athy and €360,000 for Ballycore Bridge.”

“I am especially pleased that substantial funding has been allocated for footpath provision and repair in Newbridge with Strandhouse Road getting €10,000, Barretstown Road receiving €59,000, Station Road getting €24,000, Edward Street getting €76,000 and Main Street receiving €32,667.”

“The funding for Athy Town Council of €287,000 will also have a significant impact and will be used towards a block grant and for carriageway and foothpath repairs.”

“This essential funding for Kildare roads and foothpaths will give a major boost for commuters, residents and visitors to the county,” concluded Deputy Ó Feargháil.
