The funding was sanctioned by his colleague John Curran TD, Minister of State with responsibility for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

“The Curragh Youth Project will receive €15,320 for the development of a dance studio and multimedia area and refurbishment of their centre. The University of Third Age will receive €1,500 for training and various classes including creative writing, crafts and drama classes. Network Kildare will get €10,000 to run a monthly women’s study circle and Athy Travellers Support Group will get €2,500 for training with computers, digital photography and knitting machines.”

“This Programme of Grants is designed to improve the quality of facilities and services offered by community and voluntary organisations by grant aiding essential works, fitting out and ensuring organisations in the sector have the required skills and knowledge to manage in an increasing complex environment.”

“This funding allocation is further evidence of the Government’s commitment to supporting community-based organisations as they strive to provide better facilities and opportunities for the people they serve. I would like to commend all at the benefiting groups for their hard work and dedication,” concluded Deputy Ó Feargháil.
