On Thursday 18th July, Penneys opened its eagerly anticipated new store on the Main Street in Newbridge. The new tore is located on the main street, near the post office. The store has been undergoing renovations for a few months in order to prepare for the opening. It is expected that up to 120 jobs will be created by the opening of the new store.
Penneys operates a total of 177 stores in Ireland Spain and the UK. When the new Primark opened in London 's Oxford Street in April 2007, one million items were sold in its first ten days of trading. Although trading in Newbridge may not be quite as intense, the store will no doubt be very popular with local fashionistas.
