Fianna Fail TD for North Kildare, Aine Brady has expressed her disappointment at the announcement that Intel is to make 300 redundant from their Leixlip plant but has said that she is confident for the future of the plant.
“These redundancies are disappointing for workers but I am pleased that they will be voluntary and I am confident that Intel will treat the workers who choose to take redundancy well.”
“I know that these redundancies may cause concern among other workers, their families and others in north Kildare but Intel’s future looks positive in Leixlip.”
“Intel has key policies in place displaying a confidence in Leixlip and their workforce including making NUI Maynooth a global education partner and making the Leixlip plant one of two global hubs for research and development.”
“I am confident that Intel will have a long and successful future in Leixlip. The highly skilled local workforce has risen to every challenge and Intel has recognised this by making long-term plans for north Kildare,” concluded Deputy Brady.
