Fitzpatrick Welcomes New Supports for Unemployed

Michael Fitzpatrick TDFianna Fail TD for Kildare North and member of the Oireachtas Enterprise Committee, Michael Fitzpatrick has welcomed the new supports for unemployed people in the Government’s Framework for Stabilisation, Social Solidarity and Economic Renewal.

“In the Government’s Framework, I was pleased that there was a focus on those who have lost their jobs in recent times.”

“This Government is refocusing on labour intensive projects to help people to get back to work and stimulate the economy.”

“An additional 51,000 training places will be created for newly unemployed people to assist them to retrain and up-skill to increase their opportunities to find work.”

“The number of people who can qualify for the job search programme will be doubled.”

“There is a new programme to assist apprentices to complete their training with the opportunity to complete the on-the-job phase of their apprenticeship in order to gain the required experience to progress to the next off-the-job phase or to complete their apprenticeship.”

“These are difficult economic times and families around Kildare are experiencing challenges. There are no easy solutions and the Government has had to make tough decisions that reflect the gravity of the situation. I am confident that these measures will help to enable those who have lost their jobs to take full advantage of any employment opportunities,” concluded Deputy Fitzpatrick.
