Kildare North Fianna Fail T.D. Michael Fitzpatrick has reminded farmers of the deadline for applications for the Farm Waste Management Scheme.
“Applications for the Farm Waste Management Scheme must be with the Department before the 31st of December 2008. A receipt from the Department or a certificate of registration of postage must be able to be produced for a claim for payment to be produced.”
“The Farm Waste Management has proved to be very successful. The Scheme was introduced in February 2001 under the National Development Plan.”
“Irish farmers have responded well to the Farm Waste Management Scheme and this further funding will assist in completing the work and ensuring that Ireland meets our requirements under the EU Nitrates Directive.”
“So far this year, Irish farmers have benefited from €181.8 million under the Farm Waste Management Scheme.”
“It is vital that we continue to provide practical support to Irish farmers and this funding is an essential part of that support,” concluded Deputy Fitzpatrick.
