Chamber welcome job boost as planning granted for Kildare Village

eilis-quinlanNorth Kildare Chamber President Eilis Quinlan today welcomed the news that Kildare Village have been granted planning permission for a €50 million development which will create 120 construction jobs and 380 retail jobs once completed.

Eilis said “The Chamber are delighted with this news, the Village are an active and valued member of the Chamber, this project when completed will see in excess of 1000 people working in Kildare Village.  It is a huge employer in the county and one of our major tourist destinations with over 80% of visitors coming from outside the county.  I am particularly pleased with this news as it will further help two struggling sectors of our economy - the retail and construction sector.   With this in mind, the Chamber continue to call for a stimulus plan to be put in place immediately for both these sectors and will welcome this in the forthcoming budget”.

Quinlan concluded by saying that “This extension will result in an extra €5.5 million being injected into the local economy in wages which will benefit all sectors of business in Kildare”
