Call For 294 Redundancies at Intel

Kildare North Fianna Fail TD Michael Fitzpatrick has expressed his disappointment in the news that locally based Intel are to seek 294 redundancies at their Leixlip plant.

“These job losses are very disappointing but I am confident that Intel has a strong future in north Kildare.”

“It is a difficult and distressing time for those who will lose their jobs. I understand that Intel will consult with staff over the coming weeks and that redundancies will not come into effect until October.”

“Intel has invested strongly in their Leixlip plant investing over €7billion since setting up in 1989 and has recently appointed NUI Maynooth as its Global Education Partner. Intel has also identified Leixlip as one of two new European Research and Development Hubs indicating long-term investment in the future.”

“I have been in contact with the Minister for Enterprise about these job losses and I am confident that the Minister will do all she can to support Intel and their future in Leixlip,” concluded Deputy Fitzpatrick.
